Pack 382 News

April 2002

As the school year draws closer to the end we are all getting a little more busy with sport programs, vacation plans, and just great weather ahead.  Here is a few item of note for out pack this spring and summer.

Dues All leaders were given dues sheets and should be contacting you about your sons account status/

Camping   Family Camping/Bridging Over will be 17-19 May Northwest Security Group in Chesapeake.  Bridging Over will happen on Saturday from 6-8 and will include a picnic dinner.  Hopefully everyone will make the campout but at least try to make it for the Bridging Over Ceremony.  For non-military families, Northwest is a Navy facility.  Mike Stepaniak will be collecting vehicle information so that you can get on the base. Food cost for the weekend will be $10/family.

Camping trips have also been scheduled during June and July at Newport News state Park.

Raingutter Regatta -  Due to Soccer season ending on 18 May and the number of St. Pius children playing in the league, it was decided to postpone the Raingutter regatta until Sunday, 2 June, in the Parish Parking Lot from 1-4 pm.  Please sign up for a model kit if your son is planning on attending

Fundraisers Are you interested in selling concessions at the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre this summer?  We are currently looking for parents to volunteer to help work the shows.  What a great way to hear a good concert and raise money for the scouts.  More info to follow.

Car washes have been scheduled for the summer.  All car washes will be at the Advance Auto Parts Store on Little Creek Drive from 10-2.  The following dates have been selected: 25 May, 15 June, 20 July, and 17 Aug.  Monies from the car washed will be used for camp rebates.  Any scout that attends at least two car washes will be awarded a rebate based on money earned during the summer and the number of scouts participating.

Baseball Scout day with the Tides is 14 June. Janet Lopez will collect money by 13 May.  Cost $7.50 per person. Uniform required.  Scouts will be on the field prior to the game.

Spring Round-up -  Does your son know another boy interested in scouts?  Have him bring him around on 6 May for Spring Round-up and he may earn a Recruiter badge.
